Terms
The short version.
Using Palettae
Palettae is free to use, for anything, including commercial work. There is no licence on the colours it gives you — a colour value is not something anyone owns.
Your images
They remain yours. We do not receive them, so we make no claim to them and could not use them if we wanted to. Only add images you have the right to use, and remember that extracting colours from something does not give you rights over the thing itself: a palette taken from a photograph does not license the photograph, and colours taken from a logo do not license the logo.
No warranty
Palettae is provided as it is. The colour maths is done carefully and the contrast figures follow the WCAG 2.1 formula exactly, but you should verify anything that matters before you rely on it — particularly for print, where the CMYK figures shown here are a rough device conversion and are labelled as such throughout.
Availability
We will try to keep it up and we do not guarantee it. There is no paid tier, so there is nothing to refund.
Fair use
The tool runs in your browser, so there is very little to abuse. The one server-side feature — fetching an image URL — is rate-sensitive, and we may restrict or withdraw it if it is used to make requests it was not intended for.
Advertising
Palettae is supported by display advertising, which is what pays for hosting it.
